When connecting, installing and using Light Tape care should be taken to follow closely the recommended health and safety guidelines. A copy of the installation and safety guidelines will always accompany the product when supplied.
Murphy’s Law dictates that subdued lighting combined with a large group of people and multi level flooring or stairways, offers up quite a few mishap scenarios waiting to happen. Of course it doesn’t guarantee it, but is it worth the risk of accidents when a simple, aesthetically pleasing solution can ensure that such areas are clearly marked and look good too? We at Light Tape UK can offer a solution that not only ticks that very important box where Health and Safety is concerned, but will also provide an added bonus by the lighting effect helping to create an atmosphere that is perfect for commercial, industrial and even entertainment environments.

Subway Emergency Egress Lighting
Light Tape® offers an ideal solution for Egress lighting. Lines of Light Tape® can be mounted along a wall using the Snap n Light mounting channel. Directional arrows can be incorporated in to the design of the lighting source which would indicate the direction of the quickest route out of a building aided by the light from the Light Tape product. This would be activated in an emergency situation such as in case of fire or power failure (the Light Tape can be linked to a battery operated backup system providing an uninterruptable power supply). once lit, Light Tape® can be seen in a darkened or smoke filled room, corridor or stairway easily and so can enable people to be evacuated from a building easily
Yet another way of applying Light Tape as a method of lighting a stairway is to inset it in to the underside of a hand rail on stairs offering yet another way of effectively lighting a stair area in a practical and visually pleasing way.
Handrail Illuminated with Light Tape
The picture above shows Light Tape® inset on both sides of the hand rail, either side of the stairs to achieve attractive luminous safety lighting that’s just a little different, that costs little to run.
Light Tape embedded within a floor
Light Tape can also be used as a stand alone product for a permanent solution within a floor. The Light Tape can be placed within routed channels so that the product is not raised but lays at floor level, so preventing a trip hazard. The Polycarbonate mounting Channel product can also be applied in the same way offering an alternative product solution.
Light Tape at the Earl of Doncaster
The Cafe Bar Concerto, Doncaster, South Yorkshire installed Light Tape® when refurbishment was done earlier this year. The Light Tape® was one of an ensemble of different lighting styles installed around the upper as well as lower areas in the room. It also benefits the room by providing safety lighting around those lower areas which helps to indicate the varying floor levels and small steps, thus helping to prevent accidental tripping.
Light Tape Animation can help to raise awareness of escalator safety
Light Tape Animation can offer a new and exciting way to really get escalator users safety ‘dos n don’t s’ across and noted by the general public, because it makes the signs much more visual and therefore more eye- catching. The Light Tape Animated sign offers something different to help prompt people to be more aware of the hazards of misusing and abusing this every day form of transportation between floors in Department stores, Airports, Exhibitions, Underground and train stations and within Leisure Parks etc.
How does it work: Rather than simply having the usual sticker on the side of the escalator showing, in pictures, what you should and should not do while using the moving stairway, the Light Tape Animation version would provide a sign showing the usual ‘do n don’t’ picographs but this time with the added benefit of light, with the pictures lighting up on a rolling on/off, on/off sequence to attract the eye to the hazard sign. This would also draw attention to each of the accepted/unaccepted behavior restrictions rather than them being overlooked due to a static mundane presentation.
